Digital Images in Research

The following projects are involved in research in the field of digital images and moving images.
 
Culture Lab logo
Associated Motion Capture User Categories (AMUC)
This demonstrator project is divided into work packages focused on requirements analysis, motion capture acquisition, grid service configuration, evaluation and dissemination. It draws upon the interdisciplinary, practice-based collaborative environment offered by Culture Lab at Newcastle University.

Archimedes Palimpsest
The Palimpsest was bought at auction by an anonymous American collector who deposited the book at The Walters Art Museum, Baltimore in January 1999, for conservation, imaging, and scholarly study. Work on the Palimpsest, including digital imaging, has been funded by the owner.

Online Chopin Variorum Edition Pilot Project
The pilot project has investigated the use of emerging technical capacities for text/image comparison and new music-recognition technologies for the creation of an Online Chopin Variorum Edition (OCVE).

The Centre for the Study of Ancient Documents was established in 1995 under the auspices of Oxford University's Faculty of Literae Humaniores to provide a focus for the study of ancient documents within Oxford.
DIAMM logo
Digital Image Archive of Medieval Music (DIAMM)
DIAMM's purpose is to obtain and archive digital images of European sources of medieval polyphonic music, captured directly from the original document. DIAMM is funded and supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Board and The Andrew W Mellon Foundation.

Virtual Vellum is an e Science demonstrator project that has been funded by EPSRC/JISC/Arts & Humanities e-Science Initiative and the UK e-Science Core Programme with the aim of promoting and demonstrating the use of technology within arts and humanities research.
