JISC Collection Exemplars

This project seeks to develop a set of exemplars that demonstrate how selected collections, or parts of one or more collections, might be embedded in teaching or research. Exemplars will be created at a thematic, or sub-discipline level in order that they have real meaning and relevance to the user community. Part of these exemplars will demonstrate the relationships and utility across collections that hold complementary materials, and demonstrate how these might be brought together.

The first exemplar will relate to Early English Books Online (http://eebo.chadwyck.com/home) and the related TCP Project around a theme of ‘Doing History’ that Professor Justin Champion has developed for his history undergraduates at Royal Holloway, University of London. Recently, the Waking up in the British Library Early English Books Online event at the University of Manchester looked at the application of EEBO in teaching and research in history and English literature and has been fed into this exemplar.

This project will be completed at the end of July 2005 and works in close conjunction with similar work being undertaken by the English Higher Education Academy (http://www.english.ltsn.ac.uk/).
