Accessing CHCC: Historical Census Collection

A. If you have registered with Census.ac.uk (formerly known as the Census Registration Service)

B. If you have NOT registered with Census.ac.uk (formerly known as the Census Registration Service)
- Register with Census.ac.uk.
When registering with Census.ac.uk you will be asked for your Personal Athens Username and Password. Most universities, colleges and other institutions in UK higher and further education distribute Athens identities to their communities. Athens usernames and passwords are always given out by someone in the institution, usually a member of the library staff. There is a list of education sites registered with Athens including contact names and details. You may even be able to get your Athens identity online. Several institutions allow their staff and students to get Athens identities via their intranets, which makes the process even quicker. More information about this should be available from your local contact.
Alternatively some colleges and other institutions in UK higher and further eduction use Athens Devolved Authentication (AthensDA). If this is the case you should click on "Alternative login procedure(s) and help with logging in" on the Athens login page. Further information about AthensDA is available here.
- Once registered with Census.ac.uk you need to return to this web page and use the link above to access CHCC: Historical Census Collection. On the Athens login page you should then either enter your Personal Athens Username or password, or if your institution uses AthensDA click on "Alternative login procedure(s) and help with logging in" and once confirming your institution you should be directed to CHCC: Historical Census Collection.
